Happy days are here again?

I’d say America was at it’s best when it invested in itself and it’s people, something that has been lacking for many years now. It’s hard to pinpoint a date & time but when the shift to invest and cater more to Wall Street than Main Street the erosion of the country slowly began. Many can argue that we were designed by capitalistic men and we were doomed from the start and the decline was bound to happen. I sense that the Reagan era really propelled this decline to new levels. Somewhere around the 80’s big money, greed, relaxed regulations and such really started to suck the life out of the average or middle class American. So much has changed in the 63 years I’ve been on this planet, born in America in 1959 I’m at the tail end of the ‘boomers’ generation and now the last generation that really had a fighting chance at bettering themselves, at least in the terms that I could (and did) do better than the generation before me. I was able to get a job, rent an apartment, buy a car and eat pretty good on the paycheck I received. I opened a business in 1983 and was able to prosper for nearly 29 years before I closed up shop. Simply put, I guess I was living the ‘American dream’?

The ‘dream’ has now become the nightmare for most, so what will it take to give future generations and even todays generation hope or a chance at getting their piece of this so called American dream?

FDR gave us the New Deal, a massive change and investment that catapulted us after the great depression and truly helped this country rebound and take a huge turn in a positive direction for most Americans. Today this would be considered a total socialist movement and big money would spend billions for it to fail. In the 50’s Eisenhower spearheaded a massive infrastructure bill that funded major highways and also led to massive growth in this country. Since then what has been done to truly invest in to giving people a chance at this American dream? Nasa? Civil rights bill? Obamacare? Fact is there has been NOTHING of any magnitude to help the average citizen of this country. Think about that! In over 60 years we have had no real investment into anything that would make Americans better off. It seemed (maybe this is a stretch) that at one time elected officials and those in power knew that in order for America to thrive, they took care of it’s people. America has become a corporation, an investment firm catering to the rich while millions of us have been reduced to second class citizens (or worse). It’s all about greed, power, GDP and maximizing wealth and is getting worse.

Income inequality has soared to unsustainable levels. Trillions of dollars that should filter down to the average American have been scooped up and stashed away by the very rich with nothing to stop them. I could list all kinds of statistics proving the disparity in this country but the true fact is right now in 2022 there is such an unbelievable gap in financial equality that there is no future for the ‘common person’ at least as it relates to being able to live in a comfortable lifestyle. The trademarked and pseudo patriotic version of the American dream has been prostituted so much that it is simply gone, if we don’t invest in our own people how can they invest in the dream that we have been told is so freaking great?

Speaking of making America great again….. There has been a political movement from the right wing conservatives or what are typically called republicans to make America great again. From what I have seen, it’s just another stars and stripes hoopla slogan to disguise themselves (the rich and religious) as a new version of the Leave It To Beaver days of old. This movement and slogan are a clever and well funded ideology that brings many back to the time when America was white and was in all of it’s so called glory days. They have cleverly conned many in the middle and lower class (mostly white) to buy into their agenda. They have done such a good job at wearing sheep’s clothing that they’ve convinced them to actually do their fighting for them! They have successfully sold them this ideal or dream of a America that they will restore to it’s red, white and blue glory and millions buy into this con. There is no plan, no policy change, no investment for anyone who really needs it. It’s just a well oiled circus act based on the ‘good ole days’. In their well disguised propaganda, America would be white, women would go back 50 years in time, God and religion would be king, we could wreck the planet, rights would be taken away but we’d be the version of America they tell you we must return to. To have this so called ‘freedom’ you must ‘fight like hell’ to obtain it. A red white and blue trojan horse is what they are offering!

It’s a brilliant con job for sure, Ozzie and Harriet, Lassie and John Wayne will one again return to save this country. With billions of dollars behind this and the most watched so called ‘news’ network implanting patriotic parasites into the minds of nearly half the country you can now sing along to Lee Greenwood at your nearest red hat rally. The real plan for these wanting the ‘good ole days’ is plain and simple fascism cleverly dressed up (most the time) by a version of Christian patriotism, a twisted and garbled reinterpretation of the bible. Look up Germany in the 30’s and 40’s and it will make more sense. But ‘it can’t happen here’? Well, if you really educate yourself, it’s happening right now in the ‘greatest country on earth’. It’s so obvious that half this country can’t see it or really don’t care to see it because the fire has been lit and seeing through the smoke is not easy for many. They are convinced that these so called ‘patriots’ will restore this nation and make America great again. They are proud patriots now as they display their flags while they carry guns with their made in China merchandise at rallies, in local governments and towns and will fight by any means necessary just as those they idolize have programmed them to do. They are armed and ready to do the fighting for the rich and powerful, how freaking insane is that? This can’t really be happening can it?No amount of facts, logic and reasoning will persuade them as this war on America is sponsored by rich conservatives, Fox News and the NRA and their fear based propaganda has them ready for battle.

I understand people want change and many are hurting as this country has let the rich eat the poor for way too long. What gets me is why would anyone let the rich have even more control of power? They are not and never have been the good guys, they are masters of manipulation and do not have the common mans best interest but that’s where we are today.

I don’t give the left or what most call liberals a free pass either on where we are at today. A large faction of the left today are basically moderates, or pseudo democrats, they are more like republicans of yesteryears than anything resembling progressive. Yes, there are progressives but for the most part the left has become too passive, they can talk a good talk but are more like enablers to an addicted nation than fighters for change. They call out conservatives, they bitch and whine and moan but are just vocalist voyeurs watching their country burn down. Anyone on the left with any progressive guts is instantly branded a socialist and too extreme and their own party rarely stands up for them. Bernie was fucked by his own party, AOC and the few with similar progressive ideas are very popular with many on the left but are usually left out of anything resembling proactive change when it comes to making laws and truly helping the common person. It seems those running their party are saying ‘yeah, it sounds good and makes sense, but we can’t do that can we?’

Why can’t we change? No matter who has been president, no matter what party is in control, what has really been done to move this ‘great nation’ forward? Is the gear stuck in neutral as we slide backwards downhill? Obamacare was the closest thing this country has done in ages to even try and take a step forward but it’s really not ‘affordable’ and it made sure that big pharma and mega money insurance companies still got their dividends. When will we demand big money steps back and let Americans move forward? How much pain will we endure?

So the right is charged up, organized and ready for war. Where’s the fight from the left? It’s all nice and dandy to hold protests and create awareness for injustice but what is this truly doing to create change? Who is starting a REAL movement that will FIGHT to move this country forward? Is the left too passive? Where’s the quarterback for change? It doesn’t seem that truth or reason, science, facts and intelligence is going to cut it. Sure, well worded op-eds and appearances on major networks are just fine but who’s holding the lefts torch? Is it even lit? Simply pointing your finger at problems and explaining how fucked up things are isn’t creating any real change. Does the left feel it has any power or are they content being spectators while the train keeps crashing?

One issue and maybe the keystone to the lefts dilemma is that most seem to be peaceful and rational and their logic is ‘this is obviously wrong and that conscience and justice will make it right’. It’s like a bad dream and one day we’ll all wake up and things will be just fine, take the high ground, we are above all of this and the country will sober up and things will sort themselves out. This is not working! The left will never make any inroads being reactive to things that need a proactive approach. The conservatives have an army of troops fighting for their change while the left have so called ‘law and order’ and good intentions fighting their battles. Isn’t it pretty obvious that truth and justice isn’t going to win this battle? 2 impeachments, a panel on the January 6th insurrection, the death of many caused by mass shootings, awareness of racism, stolen documents, corrupt supreme court appointees and handmaid’s tale abortion fears are ALL issues that any sane person would think would help the left to create change hasn’t really moved the needle to the left nearly as much as it should. Does the left really want to fight in a way that will stop all of this or is it against their nature? What do they say…doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Can you fight a war and not get blood on your hands?

So what’s really holding the left back and why even when in the position of power do they choose not to fight and get dirty? Maybe (most likely) Pink Floyd said it best when they sang ‘money, it’s a hit, don’t give me that do goody good bullshit’. When it takes $16 million to become a senator and over $2 million to be a member of the house and around $2 billion to be president just maybe we have a clue as to why the common American doesn’t feel the government has their best interests. I’m going out on a limb here, but maybe money is the #1 reason for the direction of this ‘great country’ is off the rails. Prove me wrong, go ahead. In a capitalistic society when money is spent on something then something is expected in return. The rich didn’t get rich by not demanding or at least expecting a return on their investment. Donating millions to politicians is no exception and is considered an investment, they get you elected and then have power over you. I’m not certain but this isn’t what out so called founding fathers had in mind. This ‘investment’ can’t be tied to any of the problems we are facing can it? They have changed the laws so they can buy politicians, I wonder what for? Shocker…..this country has been bought and paid for, so I must again re-visit my observation from earlier….Why no matter what party or who’s in power do things basically get worse for the average (non rich) American? So who’s really in power in this country? Duh!!

I could labor here trying to prove my point with statistics and facts, but it’s so damn obvious even my cat could tell you. The rich never have enough money or power and are willing to brainwash people to actual fight for them and divide this country. As long as they get enough to believe that they should shit red, white and blue and then distract you with some meaningless diversion more than likely based on your fears while taking away the very thing you should be fearing they only get richer and more powerful.

So what’s gonna give? What will it take to make this country America and not ‘merica great again? Simply put the answer would be ‘we the people’. I’m not a psychic and I’m certainly not George Orwell but it truly saddens me to say what I really believe will happen. The foundation of what this country was supposed to be has been eroded, prostituted and mangled to the point of collapse. God can’t save the USA if those whom are destroying it are using God as a weapon. Reason and law won’t save America if it’s being ignored. Money won’t save us as that is like pouring gas on the fire.

My fellow Americans, I am here today to tell you that we are fucked. I wish I had better news for you but things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. The train has left the station and is heading down the mountain with no brakes. As we wait for it’s impending doom don’t forget to post thoughts and prayers on your social media page and a meme blaming the right or the left, that would be just what they want.
